Wood

My day job has me working all up inside my head. Evenings and weekends, especially when the weather precludes hiking or biking, I like to work with my hands. For many years, this has involved wood, either simple carpentry to repair things around the house or more ambitious attempts at decorative and usable furniture, and more recently, sculpture.

Ironically, more of my time spent working wood is actually spent thinking about what I’m planning to make—so I still spend too much time up inside my head—but the hands-on work is still rewarding. I know I’ll never be a truly fine woodworker, but I enjoy it just the same. I hope you do, too.
